Just one week after the Brown Street project in downtown Pierce began, the Nebraska Department of Roads, Highway 13 project, running northwest from Pierce to the Highway 13 – Highway 121 junction (four miles), began this past Monday.
Above, crews were busy grinding away the road striping on the portion of Highway 13 from the Court Street intersection in Pierce. New striping will be put in place temporarily to direct traffic as work continues on the project.
The concrete curb and gutter, from Court Street north to the Lucas Street exit, will be removed and replaced. The next phase of the project will include grinding and removing the old asphalt and replacing it with 4 inches of new “concrete” asphalt to the Highway 13 – 121 junction.
