Start Thinking About It

With the start of school less than a month away, parents and students have begun receiving notifications about new student orientation, class schedules, computers check-out, fall sports etc…to name a few. Below are details.

Class Schedules
Available At PHS
Students will be able to pick up their class schedules and make possible changes to these schedules prior to the start of school. Students should do this during the day (9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.) which is specifically assigned to them.
Juniors and Seniors are assigned Tuesday, August 2, while 8th graders, Freshman, and Sophomores are assigned to Wednesday, August 3.
Mrs. Danielle Goetsch, the Pierce High School guidance counselor, will be available on those two days to take drop/add requests.
Seventh graders will receive their schedules on Thursday, August 4, during 7th grade orientation.
A reminder to all parents that school begins on Thursday, August 11, at the Jr.-Sr. High School with a 1:00 p.m. dismissal.
PHS 7th Grade And
New Student Orientation
Pierce Jr.-Sr. High School will hold their annual orientation session for 7th graders and new students on Thursday, August 4, at 6:15 p.m. at the high school. All parents and 7th grade or new students are highly encouraged to attend.
The orientation session provides students with the opportunity to meet their teachers and locate their classrooms and locker.
The new students will receive their class schedules along with instructions for the beginning of the school year.
A reminder to all parents that school begins on Thursday, August 11, at both the Jr.-Sr. High School and Elementary School. The first day of school will dismiss at 1:00 p.m.
Fall Sport And
Activity Meetings
A meeting will be held on Thursday evening, August 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the high school for all parents of junior-senior high school fall athletes. One of the main purposes of the meeting is to explain Pierce High School’s concussion protocol, a requirement of the Nebraska School Activities Association. This meeting is also an opportunity for coaches to meet parents and explain the expectations for their child’s sport.
If a parent is unable to attend the required meeting, please contact the school at 402-329-6217 or 402-329-4677. The presentation highlighting the required concussion protocol presentation will be recorded and available for viewing on, the school’s website, by Friday afternoon, August 5.
A form will be accessible online that a parent can download, print, and sign confirming they’ve watched the presentation. This signed form must be on file at the high school prior to an athlete’s first game/contest.
Laptop Computer Check-Out
Pierce Jr.-Sr. High School students will be able to check out their laptop computers for the school year on Wednesday, August 10, at the high school from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Students who are unable to come to the school on Wednesday, the 10th, will get their laptop computer on the first day of school, Thursday, August 11.
Parents and families are reminded that insurance covering accidental damage or loss to the computer can again be purchased at the high school for $25. To protect the student and his/her family from accidental damage charges, computers will not be checked out to any student until the $25 fee has been paid or the parent/guardian has spoken to Mark Brahmer, the principal, to specifically turn down the insurance option.
