The Pierce City Council Monday evening made it official, hiring Kirk White as the new Water and Sewer Superintendent for the City of Pierce. White had begun his duties on March 22. He replaces Wade Leisner who resigned effective January 31.

Tyler Race, a senior member of the Pierce High School boys’ golf team scored a hole-in-one this past Friday morning, April 2. Race’s shot came on hole number 3, a 154-yard, par 3, at the Pierce Community Golf Course during a practice round. He used a 7 iron, hitting into a stiff wind. Witnesses were Trevor Pettitt, Jacksen Wachholtz, and Boys’ Golf Coach Rick Adams. Tyler is the son of Scott and Laurie Race.

Rick Sirek of Town & Country Insurance Agency in Pierce was recently honored by the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) for 40 years of service and leadership to the industry. He joins a group of CIC designees who have reached the 40-year milestone, earning the designation and maintaining it over the years through examinations and a continuing education program. CIC Presdent William J. Hold said, “This 40-year accomplishment signifies a career of active and advanced education. Rick’s commitment to professional leadership and increasing knowledge is a beacon on the insurance industry as a whole.” Sirek started his career in insurance in January 1972. He purchased the Town & Country Agency in Pierce in 1976. He said, next year (2022) will be 50 years in the business.

Honored For 40-years Of Service

Chuck Micek (left) presented Pierce Mayor Tom Meyer with an $18,904.72 dividend check from EMC Insurance during the Pierce City Council’s regular monthly meeting last Monday. The City of Pierce participates in a safety dividend program through EMC. The program ties the workers compensation, property, and auto policies of participating communities together. If results from losses, over a rolling 3-year period, are good (low) EMC gives back to the participating communities in the form of a dividend check. Micek said the city has done a good job with risk management programs and the safety meetings with employees has contributed to the lack of losses due to work related accidents.
