J. Wachholtz Earns Presidential Scholarship And Character Award

Mount Marty student-athlete Jacksen Wachholtz has recently been recognized with two honors for his academic achievement, leadership, and character.
Wachholtz was awarded the Mother Jerome Schmitt Presidential Scholarship, one of Mount Marty’s most prestigious student awards. The scholarship provides full tuition for a student’s senior year and is awarded to an incoming senior who demonstrates strong academic performance, leadership, involvement in campus activities, and a commitment to Mount Marty values and mission. Students entering their senior year submit a 1,200-word essay, which is narrowed down to the top three candidates. The committee interviews the students along with faculty and staff recommendations awards the scholarship to one recipient for the coming year.
In addition, Wachholtz received the Champions of Character Award, an honor presented to a member of each athletic team. The award recognizes student-athletes who exemplify the NAIA’s National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership, both in competition and in their daily lives.
Jacksen is a 2023 Pierce High School graduate and will be a senior this fall at Mount Marty majoring in physical education. He is the son of Eric and Cali Wachholtz of Pierce.
